School: St.George’s School Munich

Our daughters love learning in school

Mr C.'s family has been with St.George´s since the school's beginning. His eldest daughter, currently in Year 9, was the fourth pupil to enrol in the school. Since then, the family has witnessed the school's growth from a dozen of children to today’s several hundred.

"As the older pupils progressively leave the school, our daughter might soon become the longest standing pupil here!”

he notes. When his oldest daughter was 3, the family was searching for a kindergarten. Coincidentally, they discovered a billboard announcing that St.George's was opening in Munich. It appeared an excellent idea for their daughter to join an English nursery and be exposed to a second language at such a young age. Later, the younger daughter, currently in Year 6, also joined the St.George's adventure.

"My daughters have been very well taken care of. As a German family, we could have transferred our children to the German state system at some point, but the level of the education offered at St.George’s, and how eagerly our children like attending this school motivated us to stay.”

The family has various reasons to enjoy St.George's.

"St.George's education is of a high standard. Bilingualism is undoubtedly a plus. We have also had very good teachers from the beginning on. My daughters love learning in school, and as a father, I am happy to leave them here in the morning. The option for them to stay until 4:30PM in the afternoon has also been a crucial logistical help as my wife and I are both working full-time.”

Reflecting on memorable moments in school, Mr C. highlights the children´s theatre performances, which remain at the top of his list. In the British system, children have indeed many opportunities to take the stage, preparing them for their future life – speaking in front of audiences and expressing themselves with confidence.

When asked about advice for parents seeking a new school, Mr C. advocates for international schools.

"The main language our children need to speak beyond their mother tongue is English. Today, my daughters can write and speak German and English naturally and fluently. When they graduate, they will be profoundly prepared for the outside world and will be able to choose where they want to go.”
