Smith Family

School: St. George´s School Munich

The Smith family comes from England and Hungary. They have three children who joined St. George’s in succession. The oldest started in 2021, followed by middle sister the following year, and finally Anna, the youngest, who joined in September 2023.

Anna holds British, Hungarian, and German passports - a lot to carry around! Mr Smith is originally from Sheffield, in the UK, and Mrs Smith is from Nagykanizsa, in Hungary.

“Anna was born in Munich, which is roughly halfway between where we both come from, so no jealousy between grandparents!” says Mr Smith.

When Anna joined her two older siblings at St. George´s, her integration was very swift and smooth.

“We were motivated to join St. George´s due to disappointment with our previous school and we were looking for an English-speaking alternative that would be more supportive of the children and help bring out the best of their abilities,” the parents reflect.

Although Anna was initially worried, she wouldn't know anyone, she connected with a large circle of friends within the first week.

“After just a few months at St. George´s, Anna was not the shy girl she used to be. She loves her class and frequently tells us about all the interesting things she is learning. She also understands things better than she did at her old school,” her mum and dad observe.

The Smith family appreciates that the teachers at St George's truly support the children and listen to the concerns of the parents. The children really enjoy going to school.

“When joining the school, we were warmly welcomed by the parent community and have participated in various events such as coffee mornings and the Christmas fair. We have some rather embarrassing Christmas jumper photos displayed on the screen in the school entrance!”
