Caring about the future

"I really enjoy debating with people who care about the future and want to make the world better.”

Born in Germany to Welsh parents, Aeronwy joined the St. George´s community in Year 10.

Aeronwy is passionate about debating and writing, actively contributing to the school newspaper club as co-editor and graphic designer. Additionally, Aeronwy acts as Secretary-General in the Model United Nations (MUN) school club. The MUN programme offers a simulation of the United Nations debating environment, where students play the role of delegates from assigned countries and try to solve current global issues.

As a participant in the yearly MUN conference in Copenhagen, Aeronwy showcased great dedication, progressing from a delegate seat to a chair position. Through a successful application involving several research papers (sustainable tourism, the sustainable textile industry, and stopping desertification through tree planting), Aeronwy can now lead a committee, ensuring debates run smoothly and respectfully.

"I really enjoy debating with people who care about the future and want to make the world better. Together with the MUN team, we are planning to host our school first MUN conference with about 10 other schools. The MUN format is highly structured and one learns how to become a real politician.”

Could this be a future career option?

Not exactly! Inspired by the Bjarke Ingels Group, Aeronwy harbours dreams of becoming an architect, preferably in an international firm.

"I would like to use advanced technology to maximise the space people have, while creating sustainable and beautiful buildings.”
