"The smiles, the laughter, and the genuine excitement for learning that fill my classroom make every challenge worthwhile.”

Ms Morey's teaching passion stems from her early connection with a preschool teacher who, through exceptional care and nurturing, left an enduring imprint on her heart. Originally hailing from Peru, Ms Morey completed her Childcare studies at Oxford, in the U.K. Over the past 12 years, she has been an integral part of St.George's, dedicating herself to teaching and wholeheartedly caring for children aged 2 to 4.

Ms Morey is proud of belonging to the St.George's community and shares that working in an international school is a truly unique and enriching experience.

"Witnessing children's effortless navigation and adaptation to various languages is a testament to their natural ability to embrace diversity"

she says. Each child brings a unique set of experiences, talents and perspectives to her classroom allowing her to create a space where individual differences are embraced, and every student feels valued and heard.

"Building strong teacher-pupil relationship is at the heart of my work. It creates a foundation of trust, making the classroom a safe place where children feel encouraged to express themselves and take risks in their learning journey."

Recognising the significance of play in early childhood development, our school integrates play-based learning. Activities are designed to be hands-on, interactive and meaningful, and children absorb academic concepts while enhancing their social and emotional skills.

Starting at 3 years old, Ms Morey implements child-initiated learning. The given autonomy promotes a sense of ownership over children's learning. Children move in their own pace and learning style, fostering a love for exploration and inquiry.

"We propose different areas of development in the classroom, which transforms into a dynamic and responsive space, empowering children to take an active role in their education and laying a foundation for a positive attitude towards learning."

Reflecting on a poignant career memory, Ms Morey highlights a community service initiative, bringing her class to an elderly care centre for singing and artwork. The incredible intergenerational interaction showed the potential of education beyond the traditional classroom setting.

"It reinforced my belief in incorporating real-world connections into the school curriculum, shaping academically and socially responsible individuals."
