We foster an environment where every pupil is given the opportunity to thrive

Phil is proud to have been part of the St.George’s community for the last 10 years. He appreciates the wide range of learning opportunities the school offers, both inside and outside the classroom, for intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and moral development, that supports the holistic growth of children.

“The school is characterised by a sense of collaboration and enquiry that we foster in our pupils”.

Phil studied for his undergraduate degree at Keele University where he gained a dual honours degree in Geography and History. He obtained his PGCE in Geography, and later pursued a master’s degree in education at the University of Durham.

Phil started his educational career in North Yorkshire where he held various teaching positions, before moving to St.George’s in Cologne in 2013. At St.George’s, he has taught Geography, and has led the Humanities department. Today he is Head of Teaching and Learning where his leadership and vision play a critical role in shaping the educational experiences and outcomes of students and teachers alike.

The studies for his Masters has ignited an interest for evidence-based approaches to education and since those times Phil has kept himself connected by networking with other professionals. He feels privileged to be able to use this evidence-based approach in his role as Head of Teaching and Learning and to ensure that our pedagogy offers the best opportunities for our pupils.

Phil fundamentally believes in the inclusivity of education, and as a teacher and senior leader, his role is dedicated to fostering an environment where every pupil is supported and given the opportunity to thrive.
