Application Process

Our admissions process is designed to be both flexible and informative, tailored to accommodate the unique needs of you and your child.

At St.George's School, we leverage OpenApply, a user-friendly platform crafted to streamline your admissions journey seamlessly. It guides you through every stage, from the initial enquiry to enrolment. While the process may vary slightly based on your specific circumstances, the following steps provide an overview of how admissions typically work at St.George's.

Step 1: Submit an Enquiry

Please click on “Submit an Enquiry” and provide some initial details about yourself and your child. This step allows us to give you information specific to your child’s age group and address any questions you may have. Once you have submitted an enquiry, you will gain access to your OpenApply account, which will serve as your central hub throughout the admissions process.

Step 2: Personalised School Tour

After creating your account, we highly recommend arranging a visit to our school. This will allow you to tour our facilities, meet key members of our team, and experience our vibrant community firsthand. While we encourage visits, we understand that it may not always be feasible. Therefore, you are welcome to submit an application even if you cannot visit the school.

Step 3: School Reports

To help us gain a comprehensive understanding of your child's educational background, we request that you provide a copy of the two most recent school reports. This is not required for our youngest children who have not yet started school, but we do ask for as much background information as possible in all cases to enable us to tailor our educational support effectively.

Step 4: Trial Day

To help us get to know your child beyond their school reports and assist you in your decision-making, we warmly invite children of all ages to participate in a trial day. This experience allows your child to spend a typical day at our school, meet potential classmates and teachers, explore our nurturing atmosphere, and complete some assessed work. In turn, this helps us effectively gauge your child's abilities and learning needs. Arranging a trial day requires no commitment or cost.

Step 5: Placement Testing

All pupils entering our Upper Primary School (Years 3 to 6) and Secondary School (Years 7 to 13) need to sit our internal placement test. Especially for acceptance into the IGCSE and IB programmes, we require a certain level of English proficiency and specific subject skills. We will therefore ask applicants to sit a placement test during their trial day or to come back to school after their trial day to do so. These tests are in place to evaluate their readiness for our educational programmes.

Step 6: Place Offer & Confirmation

Once we are confident that the academic requirements have been met and we can support your child’s learning needs, we will extend an offer for a place at our school. However, a place is only reserved once the following three steps have been completed:

  1. A full application has been submitted along with relevant documentation.
  2. The application fee of €750 has been received.
  3. The Head of Admissions has formally confirmed your child’s place with a place confirmation letter. If a year group is full, a place will be offered on a waiting list.

Admission timelines

We understand that life's journey doesn't always conform to traditional school admission cycles, so we are pleased to inform you that there are no specific admissions deadlines at St.George’s School.

Year-round applications

You can submit an application to St.George's at any time during the year. Our flexible approach allows your family to start the educational journey with us whenever it suits you best. However, we strongly encourage early planning and application to secure a place, as we maintain a strict limit of no more than 20 children per class.

Year-round enrolment

In most cases, we can welcome students to start attending St.George’s at any point during the school year. Regardless of the starting point, we strive to provide a seamless integration into our educational environment. However, there are exceptions, primarily for Upper School and Sixth Form applicants. While we are always eager to consider individual circumstances, we strongly encourage early planning and communication to ensure the best possible transition for your child.
